JOB INFORMATION:

HeyTutor has partnered with a school district in Inglewood and is looking for two bilingual Spanish-English tutors to support adult students in a classroom setting during school hours. This role involves working with adults aged 21 and older, helping them improve their English skills and providing guidance and instruction in a supportive environment.

You will be responsible for actively engaging with students, assisting them in overcoming learning gaps and enhancing their language proficiency.

You must be comfortable passing an IN-PERSON background check.

Motivating Students – Encouraging students to keep learning, understanding that many of them balance school with work and family.
Cultural Awareness for Spanish-Speaking Learners – Being able to work with Spanish-speaking students, understanding their unique cultural perspectives, and addressing the specific challenges they face in learning English.
Managing the Classroom – Creating a respectful and friendly environment where students feel safe to learn and participate.
Listening and Clear Communication – Paying attention to students’ needs and making sure explanations are easy to understand.

 

JOB DUTIES:

• Work with groups of students without the support of a teacher or school site staff.
• Prepare the tutoring area and set up for each session.
• May be responsible for picking up and dropping off students from designated areas on the school site.
• Take attendance and run lessons through the HeyTutor Dashboard (if applicable).
• Document student progress using the HeyTutor Dashboard.
• When requested by the manager, facilitate students in taking and completing baseline and summative assessments.
• Lead a group of students in tutoring sessions, using the curriculum and materials provided by the program.
• Create an engaging environment that fosters a sense of belonging, encouraging students to participate.
• Support students in making positive behavior choices.
• Engage and interact with students during tutoring lessons.
• Clock in and out daily on Deputy for shifts.
• Perform any other duties required by the company, manager, or school site.

SCHEDULE:

2 tutors for a Monday-Thursday schedule, 6 hours per day (24 hours per week)

8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, with a one-hour break in between.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be Bilingual in Spanish
  Must have completed an AA or higher, or be currently enrolled in college.
• Clear FBI-DOJ background check (provided through us)

PAY:

Pay depends on a combination of education and experience and will be determined at the time of the interview
