Position Overview: SFBU seeks to hire an experienced and motivated individual to work with the General Counsel on general legal matters involving SFBU and higher education issues and other matters, including nonprofit corporate governance, HR, real estate and student housing, and general liability. This individual will play an important role in maintaining corporate records, managing due diligence processes, preparing legal and HR documents, and supporting occasional operational projects and initiatives as may be needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Assist the General Counsel in maintaining and organizing corporate records and files.
- Ensure compliance with corporate governance and regulatory requirements.
- In collaboration with the Compliance and Risk Officer, ensure regulatory compliance for university operations and facilities
- Draft corporate documents such as resolutions and minutes.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders on legal matters.
- Draft and review contracts and other legal documents as directed by the General Counsel.
- Assist in the preparation of Board meetings and communications with the Board, working with the General Counsel and the
- Office of the President.
- Monitor changes in laws and regulations affecting the University. Assist in the development and implementation of University policies and procedures.
- Handle confidential information with discretion and integrity.
- Assist the General Counsel in legal matters arising out of handling HR, SFBU real estate portfolio, student housing, and operational and facilities matters of the University.
- Coordinate with external legal counsel as needed.
- Provide some administrative support for the General Counsel as needed.
- Support all other projects and initiatives of the General Counsel as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
